Problem Statements and Team Formation

Fellows were asked to bring in problem statements around pain points that they were experiencing or had noticed in the field. The problem statements were then clustered around user groups of person served, staff, families, and community members. Fellows looked at the clusters for some common themes and then reframed the problem statements.

T is for team! Team formation was important in the Fifth Space. To have a balance of skills and strengths. So, Fellows did a series of activities meant to see where their areas of strength were in the categories of analytic thinker, go’er, maker, energizer, organizer, initiator, generative, and gap-filler.

Fellows were asked to choose which problem statement they were most interested in working on. They then had to look at the folks in their group to try and see if they had a range of skills and strengths. Fellows shuffled around until 7 teams were formed: SWAT, Brain Gamers, Hopscotch, CARRA, Spread the Love, Tenacious Trio, and Day Dreamers.
